Disney has officially found its new Rapunzel and Flynn!
The studio announced on Jan. 7 that Teagan Croft will star as Rapunzel in the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled, the beloved 2010 animated movie. Milo Manheim will appear alongside Croft as Flynn Rider, the charismatic thief who helps the magical-haired princess escape her prison tower.
Tangled will be directed by Michael Gracey, whose previous directing credits include the musical films Better Man and The Greatest Showman. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, writer of I Know What You Did Last Summer, Thor: Love and Thunder and Do Revenge, will write the script.
The live-action adaptation of the beloved Disney flick was first announced in December 2024. Disney paused development in April 2025; however, it reportedly resumed in October. Scarlett Johansson was previously in talks to play the villainous Mother Gothel, who holds Rapunzel captive, but she’s since parted ways with the project.

The original animated film starred Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively, with Donna Murphy voicing Mother Gothel. Tangled, which debuted in theaters in November 2010, was an immediate box office success. As well as becoming the eighth-highest-grossing film of that year, the film earned a Best Original Song nod at the 83rd Academy Awards for “I See the Light.”
The film spawned a franchise, including the television series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure, which ran for two seasons.

Teagan Croft as Rapunzel

Croft is perhaps most recognizable for portraying Rachel Roth, aka White Raven, in the DC television series Titans, which ran from 2018 to 2023 on HBO Max. The 21-year-old actress went on to star in the Australian biographical drama True Spirit, in which she plays Jessica Watson, a teenage sailor who attempts a solo journey sailing around the globe.
Before being cast as the golden-haired princess, Croft was in the running alongside other notable actresses, including The White Lotus star Sarah Catherine Hook, and former Disney stars Freya Skye and Olivia-Mai Barrett.
Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider

Manheim, the son of Golden Globe-winning actress Camryn Manheim, established himself as a Disney heartthrob when he starred in the Zombies film franchise as Zed, an undead teen who falls in love with a human cheerleader. In addition to appearing in films like Prom Pact and Thanksgiving, the 24-year-old actor also came in second place on Season 27 of Dancing With the Stars. He currently stars on the Paramount+ supernatural teen drama, School Spirits.
Before being chosen to play Flynn, Manheim was reportedly up against Julie and the Phantoms star Charlie Gillespie and actor Gilli Jones.
Manheim celebrated the news of his casting on Wednesday, writing on his Instagram Story, “Too grateful to put into words. I will do him justice I promise.”
